Frozen Mash

Tuesday, March 25th, 2008

My eldest decided to watch the latest cookery programme having listened to me muttering about frozen mashed potato and tinned mince all week. I have nothing against tinned mince as I used it when we went camping last year – I find it easier and cheaper to make extra mashed potato on a Sunday, pop it in the fridge overnight and use it up on a Monday. 22.5 miles – wind, rain, sleet, my feet hurt!

Sunday, March 16th, 2008

Boy this was a tough one. Didn’t manage to get out of the house until 11am this morning as the weather was just so grotty. Peter eventually yelled at me so reluctantly I went. The rain wasn’t too bad, it was warm and wasn’t raining that hard but the ground was to wet to do off road so I figured out a route with some hills to keep the boredom at bay. Basic 6 mile loop up the Phoenix trail first, only saw one person – weather too grotty for sensible people – then up the Bledlow Ridge – all the way up, no stopping YES! Along the top – boring, mundane, road slog. Nearly gave up on various occasions and went home, taking the children to the cinema seemed a much nicer option. Then worked out that I’ve go so many meetings next week and I’m working all Easter doing Cookery Dems at The Chiltern Food Festival that there is no way I’m going to get this last long run in if I don’t carry on. Windy Woods – 3 miles of mud and good friends

Wednesday, March 12th, 2008

Supposed to be a 50 min run today, ended up with a 30 minute run with the dog through the woods. Ran from the pub up to the top of Whiteleaf Cross, whoa, really blowy, definitely no cobwebs left at all, ducked back into the woods again. Loads of mud, meant that I couldn’t really do a fab pace as it was so slippy and I really don’t want an injury this close, having the foot problems is bad enough. (more…)

20.5 miles

Monday, March 10th, 2008

I was a little worried when I went out yesterday, especially about my feet, even took my mobile in case I needed to call Pete to come and get me. Made sure I did lots of hills as the pain is relieved going downhill fast – no hills on the marathon so looks like I’ll have to take Jelly Babies and Nurofen with me. (more…)

Morton’s Neuroma

Monday, March 10th, 2008

After running the Reading Half Marathon and the burning pain and numbness coming on at 5 miles I was a little worried, the orthotics didn’t work and this was the quickest the tingling had come on, at 5 miles i had pain in both feet and had to walk for a while to relieve it, running very fast downhill brought on the most relief. However, usually the pain goes as soon as I stop, it didn’t, they were still painful at 5pm Sunday evening. Took dog for a walk on Monday, only managed 1 mile when the numbness came on. Now I was worried, it has never affected me just by walking, only when I get to over the 7 mile mark running. Time to call the Sports Podiatrist. (more…)
