This Sunday is Stir Up Sunday, the last Sunday before the start of advent and the traditional day to gather the family around to make the Christmas Pudding so everyone can have a stir and make a wish.  So tomorrow at Saturday Morning Cooking Club we have decided to bring Stir Up Sunday forward 24 hours and have our own Stir Up Saturday.

Christmas has arrived at Splat Cooking HQ. The cookery school kitchens smell heavenly – cinnamon, oranges and lemons, dark brown sugar and apples – in anticipation for the children weighing, chopping, grating, zesting, squeezing and finally stirring and making their own secret wishes before filling up their pudding bowls ready to take their puddings home to steam ready for Christmas Day lunch.

Much to my husband’s disgust the Christmas tree will be going up in the kitchen next week, the fairy lights are already draped round the dresser, Christmas Cakes will frantically be made on Sunday too, I know it’s late and you’d better promise not to tell my Mum that I didn’t make hers in September, I’ll just have to ‘feed’ it a lot to make up for it.

The Snowflakes are going on the website this weekend too.

If you need some help to get into the Christmas spirit then book onto some of our Christmas workshops.  Starting with  Edible Christmas Present workshops, Christmas Cake Decorating and the children’s workshops the week running up to Christmas with the popular Gingerbread House, Edible Christmas Presents and a new half day Christmas Cooking workshop to give you parents time to do last minute shopping and wrapping.  These workshops all take place in Princes Risborough with similar events running in Salisbury, Silverstone and Devizes.

We have some spaces left in the Saturday morning cooking club sessions in Princes Risborough, Salisbury, Silverstone and Devizes, this makes a wonderful Christmas present for a child who loves cooking, book quickly as these places go fast and we operate a waiting list system once they’re full.

on the website so you can make it at home.  There are also some mincemeat recipes, a classic mincemeat and an orange and cranberry version
