Additive Free and Natural
These sprinkles and sugars are coloured using natural or nature identical colourings, the pink may come from beetroot juice, the yellow from turmeric or saffron, the green from wild grasses. Due to the nature of the product, ie they are free from additives or use natural products, the Best Before date will short dated especially compared with similar products using chemical colourings and preservatives. The products are perfectly safe to eat after this date but as there are no preservatives or nasty food colourings the colour will start to deteriorate and after this date may gradually start to look a little 'washed out'. The definition of Additive Free means that there are no 'E' numbers in the item, Natural means that only ingredients extracted from naturally occuring ingredients found in plants, minerals and animals (eg beetroot, saffron, algae), Nature Identical means that ingredients are made by chemical processes that make the ingredients as close to nature as possible.
